January 13, 2017: Crested Butte Buried in Snow
Over the ten day period from January 4-13, Crested Butte, in Central Colorado, received nearly 100 inches of snow! In fact, a few days prior, the ski resort actually had to close due to too much snow!

I happened to fly right over this area that day. I am guessing this is somewhere in Central Iowa where large swaths of the state were under water.

This photo was taken near Idaho Springs, CO, at roughly 7800 feet in elevation. In the valley it is raining, but snow can be seen accumulating roughly 1000 feet higher in elevation, on the nearby hills.
